Hutton-Clarke Antiques is delighted to present a superb 18th century French Louis XV commode, masterfully crafted from tulip wood, walnut, and rosewood. This exceptional piece features Bombay-style curved ends adorned with exquisite diamond-shaped parquetry. Each drawer is equipped with original gilt hardware, enhanced by parquet-style designs and elegant inlays. Uniquely, the commode is accented with concave brass strips between the drawers and ornate mounts atop the legs. The commode boasts a continuous elegant shape, crowned with its original, thick marble top, displaying a historical repair. The marble is beautifully figured in a porphyry style, with grey veining over a terracotta base colour characteristic of the period. The drawer linings, made from high-quality pine and poplar, remain in their original condition, as does the back of the commode. An exquisite addition to both modern and traditional interiors, this commode is a testament to the craftsmanship and style of its era.
