A striking engraving by renowned wildlife artist Herbert Thomas Dicksee (1862–1942), depicts a majestic lion standing proudly on a rocky outcrop. Framed in its original black ebonised frame with a label to the rear

Dicksee, celebrated for his lifelike animal portrayals, meticulously studied big cats at the London Zoo to achieve remarkable accuracy in his work. A Fellow of the Zoo, his dedication is evident in the power and realism of this etching.

The daughter destroyed the engraving plates after his passing.
